Flathead Lake Brewing Company started in 2004 in Woods Bay, a small community
five miles south of Bigfork, Montana. Naming the brewery wasn’t hard. FLBC
overlooks the shores of the largest freshwater lake in the West – and we would
argue the most beautiful.
In
2006 we were honored with becoming the youngest brewery ever to win not just
one, but two, World Beer Cup awards. Our brewery brought home a bronze medal
for our Peg Leg Porter (now known as the
Painted Rock Porter) and a silver medal for our Mutiny Stout (now known as 369’ Stout).
People
liked our beer so much we just couldn’t keep up with demand – not a bad problem
to have. To keep our customer’s happy, we decided we needed a larger brewing
space. By 2015 our second brewing facility opened and began production in
Bigfork.
We
strive for high quality beer with the least amount of environmental impact. We
have built our modern facility with reused materials, solar energy, and waste
collection systems. We are in close proximity to Flathead Lake; therefore, we
must insure that all our waste is collected and pretreated before it goes to
the municipal waste treatment plant. We track our water usage and have reduced
our total usage well below the average of a typical brewery.
